Benefits of Jackfruit

Jackfruit or locally known as "nangka" or "langka" is the favorite fruit and dessert for Filipinos like me.

According the Department of Agriculture, Jackfruit is  one of the most widely grown fruit crops in the Philippines. It was reported that this fruit is one of the famous in the world because it produces the largest edible fruit that weighs as much as 50kg.

Artocarpus heterophyllius (scientific name)

Going Wordpress

I have been contemplating real hard whether to stay in Blogger or go to Wordpress. I have several blogger friends who are shifting to Wordpress and I must admit I am a little bit tempted to do the same. I would probably try one blog first, and thinking to go Wordpress for this blog - The Green Mommy.

But surely, I will not leave Blogger completely as I find it easier to use and besides, I love Blogger. I started here and will always be part here.

I already contacted a mommy blogger about this and waiting for her answer.

A Flower for Mellow Yellow Monday

This is my first entry for Mellow Yellow Monday from this blog.

A beautiful gumamela flower inside a stone container with water. A side decor at a fab resort in Morong, Bataan - Anvaya Cove. Have you been there?

We recently went there to take a photo of the property, after that we headed to the clubhouse for lunch.

On Cleaning Floors

Time flies so fast and I cant believe that we are leaving soon for Dumaguete, my hubby's home place. We will be visiting his family for Christmas but we will be back before New Year.

When I came home today, our house helper complained about our current floor mop. Its a pity as I bought it only a month ago  at the  nearby supermarker. I looked at it and indeed the wear and tear is very visible.

Good enough that hubby remembered an exhibitor selling  Bissell Steam Mop  at the recently held exhibit at the SMX Convention Center. Luckily I took one of their namecard and some flyers. I will surely give them a call when we come back from our holiday.

While we were at their booth, they showed us the product, explained a bit. Hubby pressed my hand as a sign to leave the booth. As soon as I walked away, the staff asked me to try it and so having no choice, I did it and then and there, I was fascinated by how easy it is to maneuver, light weight and so easy to pack. What is special about this is its cleaning head can turn 360 degrees so it is easy to reach the difficult part of the house.

But what fascinates me more is that, the main component in cleaning is to only use water. We dont need to use any harm cleaning chemicals so it is very good for the environment. And what is good for the environment is also good for my family.

After reading several steam mop reviews, this is surely on top of my buying list early next year.

A Green Christmas Card

Every year, our suppliers and buyers especially from Europe do look forward for our Christmas cards. While there are a lot of modern way to send Christmas greetings, but we still prefer to send a Christmas cards from indigenous materials.

For more than 5 years, we ordered from Zero Tree, a company based in Laguna specializing in these kinds of materials. This time, we opted to make it ourselves.

We bought this abaca materials from Tabora Street in Divisoria for Php 70.00 or $1.59 for 1 pad. We chose various colors for sample making. Our production staff made a lot of samples but end up with one design.

A mix of brown and red abaca fiber accentuated with an angel at Php 10.00 ($0.22) made it to the top.

This is the actual Christmas Card we have sent to our contacts. A mix of brown and red made it to the top. We sent to Europe 2 weeks ago and receiving now their valued comments.

We inserted a piece of testliner brown bought at National Bookstore (Php 6.00 or $0.14) for our Christmas greetings in various languages.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Frohe Weihnachten und ein glueckliches Neues Jahr
Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong Taon
Selamat hari Natal dan Tahun Baru

Finally, our personalized message written by the big boss and sealed with our signatures.

My entry for Ruby Tuesday.

24/7 Hosting Company

2010 is almost over but I guess at this time of the month, our brain is still stucked with the Christmas festivities. I know a lot of us are thinking of ways to make our holiday worth remembering. This is the time that most of OFWs are coming to spend the noche buena together.  As a matter of fact, we are on the same boat as we ourvselves are preparing for our holiday in Dumaguete.

But before hand, I must buy VPN accounts to assure and secure our business hosting service. I heard from another blogger  that  she has bought several accounts with them. With 24/7 online technical support, what else can you ask for?

Share Your Blessings

Its almost Christmas holiday and I  have been busy lately sorting out the kids  clothing, shoes and toys with 3 different categories: KEEP, GIVE AND BRING. As I have mentioned in my other blog, we are leaving for Dumaguete to be with my hubby's family and friends.

It has been 2 long years that we didnt visit them though his parents would come here sometimes but going to the province is of course what I long for. I have been very busy with work and I need to unwind. I want to be a mother 24 hours a day.

Lets share our blessings this Christmas. Happy Sunday everyone!
