Going for shopping? Malls? Why not bring your recyclables along?
Time to time, I come across many programs that support recycling. One of that is the SM Supermalls Recycling Market - Trash to Cash.
You can bring in your trash like :
1. Scrap paper and cardboard
2. Empty ink toner cartridge
3. Plastic bottles and plastic scraps
4. Used lead batteries (from cars, UPS/Voltage regulators)
5. Aluminum, tin cans, busted rechargeable lamps
6. Polyesterene, styrofoam, junk cellphone, cellphone batteries (not for recycling/buying)
Part of the sales will be given to Environmental Causes.
Next schedule is on August 1 and August 7, 2009. Mark in your calendar!

Nike's Shoe Recycling
You may have a lot of old shoes at home. Why not give to less fortunate people around you? To your relatives, maids or better yet to charity organization.
Don't just throw them away as even old shoes can be recycled.
Nike has program called Nike-Reuse-Shoe
To date, Nike has collected 23,660,782 pairs of shoes worldwide since 1990.
Think Green all the time!

Recycling Tips: Recycled Paper
Buy recycled paper and print on both sides. When using paper in the office, print on both sides of the sheet and recycle the paper when you are finished. By recycling one ton of paper, you can save 17 trees, almost 7,000 gallons of water and more than three cubic yards of landfill space.

Recycling Tips: Peeling Apples
Peeling Apples
When peeling apples for an apple pie, instead of throwing the cores and skins in the trash, toss them in the yard for the birds, they will surely love them.

Waste to Products
We had an invitation from another German national who is currently based in Iloilo. No second thoughts, we immediately flew to Iloilo.
Arrived in Iloilo via Cebu Pacific at around 8:35 AM. Went straight to Sarabia Manor Hotel to check in, freshen up and ready to rock! As it was almost lunch time when he arrived at the hotel, so we ate in the hotel. Then we headed to the place : Bingo!
Okay, it stinks like hell! So what? This is what we came for! So smell here.. smell there.. same smell everywhere! After sometime, you can't smell a thing. I got used to it I think.
Garbage truck currently unloading some shit
Mountains of Garbage
Basura here, basura there, basura everywhere
A lot of mix merchandise stored here. No wonder they call it Waste Mining. Kids, Adults, Old, Young are working in this dumpsite. Day and night, they have to sniff this unique smell.
A lot of IF comes to my mind, if only we know how to handle our scrap. If and if, its always easy to blame somebody..
After the dump site office, we headed to the office attached to DENR. The following are the products made out of our garbage.
/>Jewelry beads out of paper
Soap dish
Flower base
Decorative tree out of pet bottle
Bag from juice pack
Hat from used newspaper
